Alma Jane Lumbar, 81 years old, “Na-ay-igwan-ay-aa-shiik” which means “Feather blowing in the wind” from the Caribou Clan began her journey to the spirit world on July 13, 2017 from the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN. She was born in Nett Lake, MN on May 21, 1936 to Henry Sr. and Helen Goodsky.

Alma was a kind, loving, caring and very helpful person. She was a good mother, caretaker and homemaker. Alma raised her grandson Brian Jr. from infancy to adulthood and even treated her brothers and sisters like she was their mom. Alma’s daughter, Audrey, became her primary caretaker after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Audrey took wonderful care of her during her years of declining health. She was very much loved by her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her daughter-in-law Debbie Lumbar. She will be very missed by her family and close friends.

Alma is welcomed to the spirit world by her parents; Henry and Helen, husband; Richard, son; Brian, sister; Bonnie, granddaughter; Briana, great great grandchildren; Ignacio and Ashley, other family members and friends.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her sons; Daniel (Debbie) Lumbar and Richard (Billie) Lumbar both of Minneapolis, daughters; Debbie Lumbar of Evelyth, Audrey Lumbar of Bemidji and Denise Lumbar of Minneapolis, brothers; Henry Jr. and Eugene Goodsky both of Orr, sister; Ellen Adams of Cass Lake, 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

An overnight wake for Alma will begin at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15th and continue until her 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Sunday, July 16th all being held at Alma’s home-Sugarbush, 11046 Sugar Bush Trail, Orr, MN. Her spiritual advisors will be Gilbert Smith and Gordy Adams, Jr. Pallbearers for Alma will be Kevin Lumbar, Daniel Church, Travis Lumbar, Gene Lumbar, Duane Lumbar and Conrad King. Her honorary pallbearers are Norm Adams, Jones Adams, Randy Adams, Duane Columbus, Daniel Lumbar, Jr., Byron Lumbar, Sr., Joseph Lumbar, Antoine Fairbanks, Roxanne Fairbanks, Crystal Lumbar-Romero, Richard Lumbar, Tessia Star Lumbar, Vanessa, Brian Jr., Nicole, Kristen, Russell, Justin, Dakotah and all her grandchildren. Interment will be in the Goodsky Family Burial Grounds at Sugarbush-Orr, MN following her Sunday service.
