Navajo Head Start Director Under Investigation

WINDOW ROCK – The U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Inspector General’s Office has contacted President Russell Begaye requesting that the Office of the President and Vice President (OPVP) conduct an investigation into allegations of misuse of funds by Navajo Head Start Director Sharon Singer.

“Funding for any of our programs is a critical resource, especially in light of the current budget cuts being proposed at the federal level,” President Begaye said. “In working with the Department of Dine Education, Director Singer has been put on administrative leave effective Jun. 29 as we move forward with an investigation into Navajo Head Start.”
