Tama Council hires police officer, expansion of department may be sought

Jarade Purk, currently serving on the Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Force, was hired on a 3-0 Tama City Council vote Monday night to become the fifth member of the Tama Police Department. He was to already start duties on Tuesday, June 20. Voting in favor were council members Robert Tyynismaa, Aaron Haughey and Kenny McAdoo. Members Doug Ray and Emily Babinat were absent.

He said he will fulfill seven days due the Meskwaki Department and work other days for Tama.
