Lady Warriors hit slump in 71-41 loss to Cromwell-Wright - P35
Blow 15 point lead and lose to GHEC/Truman/Martin Luther 69-63 in consolation bracket

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - #3 Cromwell-Wright (26-4) converted 13 three-pointers to snap Red Lake's (24-3) 15-game winning streak 71-41 in the Class A quarterfinals at Mariucci Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Cromwell-Wright made 9-of-16 three-pointers before the break and defended the arc well, holding the Warriors to 0-7 three-point shooting to mount a 46-15 lead at the half.
The Cardinals were led by Chelsea Swatek with 23 points and nine rebounds as she delivered 4-9 from three-point range. Taya Hakamaki had 16 points and five assists on 4-5 three-point shooting and Bailey Gronner made three three-pointers to finish with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Cromwell-Wright led by as many as 37 in the second half before Red Lake finished strong down the stretch, narrowing the margin to 24 with an 18-5 run spanning six and a half minutes.
The Warriors were led by Grace White's 13 points and nine rebounds while Alexis Desjarlait had 10 points and four rebounds.
Cromwell shot 54.3 percent from the floor (25-46) for the game and 52.0 percent from the arc (13-25).
The Cardinals advance to the semifinals to face defending Class A champion #2 Goodhue on Friday at 2 p.m. at Williams Arena.
Red Lake will take on GHEC/Truman/Martin Luther in the consolation semifinal on Friday at noon at Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia-St. Paul.
MN Class A State Quarterfinals – Red Lake 41 vs. #3 Cromwell-Wright 71
Going into the game the Cromwell-Wright Cardinals were the number two offense in MN girls class A at 80.2 points per game with the Red Lake Warriors leading Class A at 82.8 points per game. But it was the Cardinals that had the hot hand this night making 13 three point shots to break their own state record for three point makes by a team in a season while jumping out to an early double digit lead. Late in the second half the Warriors started to get the offense going but the deficit was too big for them to overcome.

Class A State Consolation Semifinal – Red Lake 63 vs. GHEC/Truman/Martin Luther 69
Despite trailing by as many as 15 points in the second half, the Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars interior game plan came back to build a seven-point lead and hang on for the victory over the Red Lake Warriors.
Red Lake started hot in the first half making eight triples and building a 12-point lead at halftime. They would reach their largest lead of 15 barely two minutes into the second half.
But the Warriors would then go cold with GHEC/T/ML going on a 22-4 run to take a 52-49 lead with six minutes remaining in the second half.
The Jaguars made it a seven point lead before the Warriors started to keep pace and pulled close late.
The Warriors had a chance to tie the game but the three point shot rimmed off and the Jaguars closed out the game from the free throw line.
GHEC/T/ML will face SW MN Christian Saturday morning in the Class A 5th place matchup.
