The Red Lake Warriors and Cass Lake-Bena Panthers met for the fourth time this season when the two teams played for the East Sub-Section 8A Championship Tuesday night in Thief River Falls. Of the the four meetings this season, Tuesday's game was by far the closest but ended with the same result as the Warriors held off the Panthers to claim the Sub-Section title.

Cass Lake-Bena went 5:44 without scoring and by the time they did score again the damage had been done.

Red Lake seemed to take control of the game early when they jumped out to a 23-10 lead but Cass Lake-Bena would come back to cut the deficit to 26-24.

The second half featured three ties but the Panthers were never able to take the lead.

Rob McClain led Red Lake with 19 points and 14 rebounds as the Warriors picked up their tenth win in their last eleven games and improved their overall record to 24-4.

Arnold Kingbird led Cass Lake-Bena with 16 points as the Panthers end their season at 21-8, with half of their losses coming against the Red Lake Warriors.

Section 8A West Championship – #2 Stephen/Argyle 47 vs. #1 Ada/Borup 39

The Stephen-Argyle Storm built a double-digit lead in the second half and showed a hot hand from the free throw line to hold off the Ada-Borup Cougars to claim the 8A West Sub Section crown. With Stephen-Arglye leading by four at halftime, both teams started the second half with a scoring drought before a pair of quick buckets got the Storm's offense brewing on their way to opening a ten-point lead. Ada-Borup then found the energy to climb back to tie the game at 36-36. But there was not enough to complete the comeback as the Cougars would score only one more basket the remainder of the game while Stephen-Argyle scored nine of their next eleven from the free throw line to close the game out. Stephen-Argyle will face Red Lake on Friday for the Section 8A title. Ada-Borup ends their season 24-4 and graduates six seniors.
