Activists complete 8 day, 90 mile prayer walk for clean water

Sheaffer said many of the protesters lived at Standing Rock reservation, the controversial site of the Dakota Access pipeline which would carry crude oil more than 1,000 miles through four states from North Dakota to Iowa. The Water Walk for Life was a walk in solidarity with those still at Standing Rock, he said.

“The movement at Standing Rock, specifically, is gearing up for a whole different kind of water protection," Sheaffer said. “We’re getting ready. We’re creating a coalition, we’re creating resilience to go forward to fight for water.”
