11th Annual Community Wellness Summit held in Red Lake - P2

RED LAKE - The 11th Annual Community Wellness Summit was held at the Red Lake Casino Event Center on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. The 3-day summit is scheduled to go on until Friday.

Registration was held from 8 AM to noon, with the opening ceremonies presented by Murphy Thomas and Facilitator Chance Rush starting at 9 AM.

The welcome was provided by Marilyn Mountain, Interim Executive Director of Chemical Health Programs, with opening remarks by Red Lake Tribal Chairman Darrell Seki.

Ron Kingbird was the Key Note speaker where he talked abut "Three Principles of Wellness."

After lunch Kelly Brunelle and Ron Leyba from the Red Lake Criminal Investigation Division presented "Narcotics and Paraphernalia Identification," followed by "Drug Identification and Narcan."

On Thursday Salena Beasley, Program Director of Chemical Health Programs, will provide the opening remarks, and the guest speaker is Kasey Nicholson, Substance abuse counselor from Billings, Montana.

After a short break Kailee Fretlund, PharmD is scheduled to speak about Medical Assisted Treatment.

After lunch several workshops will be available from 1 PM to 3 PM. These include Eating Well, Medicine Wheel, QPR - Suicide Prevention, First Steps to Healthy Babies, Healthy Relationships, Chemical Health Programs, Asset Forfeiture, Family and Children Services and Physical Fitness.

Friday's activities include a Community Wellness Panel question and answer session, Healing Ceremonies and prize drawings.
