Two Kickapoo Tribe members pleaded guilty to stealing from Child Care Assistance Program

The Tribal District Court of the Kickapoo Tribe said Delores Hooper and Darlene Wewenes were found to have acted by fraud or stealth to steal from the Kickapoo Child Care Assistance Program. Kickapoo Vice-Chairman Fred Thomas called the women's actions "selfish" in taking resources from those who need the program's support.

Hooper and Wewenes ordered to pay restitution and serve six months of unsupervised probation. A three-month jail term was suspended.
