FBI talks to tribal members over Española shooting
February 2, 2017
FBI agents interviewed two members of the Ohkay Owingeh tribe this week in connection with the shooting of a 20-year-old man Friday at an Española Allsup’s, but police haven’t made an arrest in the case.
Española police Detective George Martinez said officers haven’t found enough evidence to show that Daniel Baca and his teenage son were at the scene of the shooting, a gas station on tribal land. The younger Baca, who The New Mexican is not identifying because he is a juvenile, is a student at Española Valley High School and a member of the boys basketball team. Witnesses had reported seeing the pair at the scene, Martinez said.
