Man accused of killing Twin Cities woman in North Dakota pleads not guilty

FARGO -- A man who faces a manslaughter charge in the death of a Vadnais Heights, Minn., woman entered not guilty pleas in Cass County District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

In addition to pleading not guilty to manslaughter, Timothy Barr, 51, of Lakeville, Minn., pleaded not guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury in connection with the death of Michelle Newell, 45.

Newell’s body was found in rural Cass County in early December by investigators who were directed to the site where the remains were found by Barr, who is accused of backing his car over Newell after she hid beneath the vehicle.
