Delta cancels hundreds of flights amid Florida shooting, storm in Atlanta

Delta Air Lines canceled and delayed flights Friday as it grappled with a deadly shooting at its terminal in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and a winter storm at its biggest hub in Atlanta.

Flight disruptions persisted for the remainder of the day after a gunman opened fire in the baggage claim area at Terminal 2 of the Fort Lauderdale airport, killing five people and wounding eight before being arrested.

No Delta employees were harmed, the airline said, but it sent a care team to the Florida station to assist families and friends of customers and employees who may have been affected.
