Harlan Dean BigBear, age 60, of Minneapolis, Minnesota journeyed to the Spirit World on Saturday, December 31, 2016. He was born on September 15, 1956 in White Earth, Minnesota, the son of Frank Big Bear and Maxine Narcross.

Harlan enjoyed his painting career with Superpainters in Minneapolis for many years. His hobbies included making things, drawing, beading, telling jokes, music, and being an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Harlan was a family man who loved his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maxine; brothers, Joey Big Bear, Frank Roberts, Francis Norcross and Dougie Norcross; and sister, Kathy BigBear.

Harlan is survived by his children Gideon Hardy, Harlene Hardy, Toni Thompson, Christine Reyes, Jennifer Thompson, Marilyn Thompson, Veronica Archambault and Wesley Little; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers Frank BigBear Jr. and David Norcross; sister Sandra Libby; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Harlan Big Bear will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Pine Point School at Noon, Ponsford, MN. Officiating will be Clyde Bellecourt. Spring interment will be at St. Theodore's Cemetery, Ponsford MN.

A wake will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 from 4:30 – 8:30 PM at Washburn/McCreavy, Nokomis Park Chapel, 1939 East Minnehaha Pkwy, Minneapolis,MN. An all-night wake will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 beginning at 3 PM at Pine Point School, Ponsford, MN.

Honorary casket bearers are Douglas Dick Jr., Starman Wallowingbull, Paul Larson, Ed Larson, Brian Larson, Joseph Larson, Antone BigBear, Sunnyman BigBear, Wolf Bellecour, Tomas Reyes, Elfer Thompson, Jordan Thompson, Gordo Thompson, and Aaron Mason.

Casket bearers are Gideon Hardy, Gito Thompson, Leona Thompson, Wesley Little, Eddie Larson, Michael Larson, Aaron Rock and Frank BigBear, Jr.
