Gophers players, U leaders working toward ending boycott of football

University of Minnesota football players are preparing for a news conference at 9 a.m., and sources have told the Star Tribune that signs point toward the Gophers lifting their boycott of team activities ahead of the Holiday Bowl.

On Friday night, many players left the Gophers football complex after meeting with University President Eric Kaler and other school leaders convinced the team would boycott the bowl, sources said.

But sources said the sides were nearing a new agreement after negotiations through the night.
