Chumash Foundation donates funds to help music students

Some more music students at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School will be playing on new instruments soon as the result of a donation from the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.

The tribe presented a $7,500 check to the Santa Ynez Valley Music Boosters at the Dec. 7 Winter Concert.

The funds will help support the Music Boosters’ Instrument Replacement Project, which provides new and updated instruments for students in the high school’s Music Department, a tribe spokesman said.
