Lady Warriors lose hearbreaker to Stephen-Argyle 65-64 in NCTC Holiday Tournament

The Lady Warriors started off slow, trailing in the beginning by as much as 10 points, but came back to lead at the half 35-33.

Still leading in the second half by as much as 10 themselves, Stephen-Argyle keep chipping away and moved ahead by 1 point, only to have Red Lake take back the lead with just 7 seconds left, 64-63.

A free throw tied the game for Stephen-Argyle, and another free throw put them ahead with just 2.3 seconds left.

After both teams called timeouts, Grace White inbounded to Samantha Roy, and her shot at the buzzer hit the rim a couple of times but would not go in.

The loss was Red Lake's first of the year as they are now 6-1. A couple of Red Lake's starters got into foul trouble early, putting the pressure on more in the end.

It was a game that could have went either way.

Gericka Kingbird led the Warriors with 23 points, Grace White added 19, Alexis Desjarlait had 14 but fouled out with 13:51 remaining in the game, and Danielle Seki had 6 points.

Autumn Thompson led Stephen-Argyle with 26 points on the night, as well as was the tournament MVP. Thompson scored 103 points in the tournement.

Gericka Kingbird and Grace White were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

They will travel to Fond du Lack on December 17, 2016, Cass Lake on December 22, before hosting Red Lake County Central on January 5, 2017.
