WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The blockade was imposed at the Backwater Bridge, the site of a violent clash in November between law enforcement and protesters opposing the $3.7 billion Dakota Access Pipeline construction because of environmental concerns.

"The blockade has been a serious issue for our people as it cuts us off from the shortest route to major hospitals and other emergency services," Archambault said on Wednesday.
