Standing Rock reservation man charged in death of child

MCLAUGHLIN, S.D. -- A man from far north-central South Dakota on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation has been charged with murder in the death of a child.

Matthew St .Pierre of McLaughlin near the North Dakota-South Dakota border entered a plea of not guilty last week in federal court after an indictment charged him with repeatedly striking a child which caused injuries that led to his death.

The incident occurred between Oct. 11 and Oct. 12, said the U.S. Attorney’s office for South Dakota.
