How to treat Trump's nominees

We find it predictable that Democrats should seek “payback” for the GOP Senate’s refusal to hold confirmation hearings on Merrick Garland to fill the seat vacated by Antonin Scalia’s untimely death. We learn: “Multiple Democratic senators told Politico in interviews last week that after watching Republicans sit on Merrick Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court for nearly a year, they’re in no mood to fast-track Trump’s selections.”

As a matter of good politics and good governance, we would suggest that the Senate Democrats separate the nominees into three categories. They may disagree about which nominees go in which categories, but the methodology will be useful.
