Ky. Board of Ed. looks into charter schools
Charter schools are likely coming to the Bluegrass State after decades of debate, and the Kentucky Board of Education wants its voice heard when state legislators no doubt take up the contentious topic.
For years, charter schools - which are publicly funded but run by private groups - have failed to gain the needed support in Frankfort to become law. Kentucky is one of only a handful of states that don't allow charter schools.
But with the recent election shifting control of the Kentucky House to Republicans, the path is now open to usher charters into the state.
