After school she moved to Spokane Washington, met her husband and lived there for the next 30 years of her life before coming home to Red Lake. During her time in Spokane, Charlene attended school to become an Administrative Assistant. It was during that time that she either became or realized that she was a speed reader. Charlene used this new found gift to read all the Danielle Steele books she could. Charlene liked to party and have fun her whole life. She enjoyed doing a lot of different things, some of her favorites were playing bingo and the slots at the casino, watching her forensic movies and sewing, but Charlene's specialty was making Star Quilts. She loved spending time with her boys and her grandbabies and thought the world of them.

Those welcoming her home are her parents; Ambrose and Adele Mason, husband; Michael Jackson, sisters; Eleanore Loud, Wilma Mason and Janice Mason, brothers; Frederick, Paul Sr., Francis and James Mason, uncles; Charles Sumner and Paul Dale Mason, aunt; Elizabeth Mason and other family members.
