States attorneys seek to confront Pine Ridge violence

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) Spurred by a rash of violence on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, area prosecutors met Wednesday to craft a response.

States attorneys from Bennett, Fall River, Jackson, and Oglala Lakota Counties gathered in Pennington County States Attorney Mark Vargo's office Wednesday afternoon to address the public safety crisis.

After a young man was executed in broad daylight near a crowded basketball court, tribal officials appealed to federal authorities for additional police officers to patrol the reservation.
