11 Southern Utes compete for 2 Tribal Council seats

Eleven candidates are vying for two Tribal Council seats in the Southern Ute Indian Tribe’s general election Nov. 4.

The ballot, which is subject to change, includes one incumbent, Tribal Council member Mel Baker, in addition to Marjorie Borst, Matthew Box, Joycelyn Peabody Dutchie, Byron Frost, Kevin Frost, Estelle Monte, Adam Red, Howard Richards, Sr., Shane Seibel and Tara Vigil.

Some have competed for a Tribal Council seat in years past, including Borst, a tribal elder, and Kevin Frost, who both ran unsuccessfully last year against three other candidates for two open seats.
