Cougar spotted near Red Lake, police say

RED LAKE—The Red Lake Police Department is warning the public via Facebook about a cougar or mountain lion spotted Wednesday evening near the Battleriver Bridge.

According to a Facbook post, published on the Red Lake Police Department's page at about midnight Friday, the animal was spotted at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Residents near the area are advised to watch pets closely.

PUBLIC NOTICE FROM RED LAKE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Red Lake Department of Public Safety would like to advise the community that there has been a Cougar/Mountain lion sighting on the north side of the Battleriver bridge on the evening of October 12, 2016 at approximately 6pm. Residents are advised to keep an eye on your pets in the area. Courgars have been known to travel long distances in search of a stable food source, once located they will hold up in the area until there is a need to look for a new area.
