Shoshone Tribe Doesn't Recognize Tribal Court

The Shoshone Business Council did not appear at a tribal court ordered hearing to hold them in contempt.

Shoshone Business Council members say the tribal court system is no longer a joint system, but an Arapahoe system.

Chairman of the Shoshone Business Council Darwin St. Clair said “the Northern Arapahoe court because they’re all Northern Arapahoe employees paid by the Northern Arapahoe tribe have no jurisdiction or authority over the Eastern Shoshone people or anybody on the Wind River Indian Reservation. So anything that comes out of that court unfortunately has no authority.”
