Gloria Jean Desjarlait, age 71, of Red Lake Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Red Lake IHS Hospital. Gloria was born on December 13, 1944 in Red Lake, MN, the daughter of Solomon and Maggie (Waybenais) Desjarlait.

Gloria was born and lived all of her life in Red Lake. She was, for the most part, a very private person. She did, however, like to spend a lot of her time at the Hope House. Gloria enjoyed doing any and all kinds of crafts. When she wasn't at the Hope House she liked to play prize bingo and watch old time cartoons like Tom & Jerry. Gloria was a jokester and loved to laugh. She is going to be very missed by all who loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Maggie Roberts and Solomon Desjarlait, siblings; Francis, Leo, Patrick, Simon, Myron, John and Alfred Desjarlait, Lorena Hanson, Gladys Romero, Laverne Desjarlait, Loretta King, Herb Mountain, Sr., Olive Neadeau, Arthur Schoenborn and Raymond "Joe" Roberts, other relatives and friends.

Gloria leaves behind her sister; Evangeline (Michael) Beaulieu of Red Lake, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

An overnight wake for Gloria will begin at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 3rd at the Red Lake Community Center and continue until her 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, October 4th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Helping to lay Gloria to rest are Leo Desjarlait, Jr., Fred Desjarlait, Sr., Donald Desjarlait, Sr., Arlen Desjarlait, Dave Desjarlait and Wally Holstein. The alternate pallbearer is Duane Spears, Sr. Her honorary pallbearers are Donna Mae Sumner, Cheri Goodwin, Lorena Cook, Kath Moliter and the Jourdain-Perpich Staff. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery immediately following her Tuesday service.
