Rep. Raul Ruiz Voices Opposition to Dakota Access Pipeline on House Floor

WASHINGTON – Representative Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-California – 36th Congressional District) called for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct a meaningful tribal consultation with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Representative Ruiz, who visited the Standing Rock Indian Reservation and the encampment near Cannon Ball, North Dakota two weekends ago, made his plea in terse remarks on the floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

He called for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to cancel their “faulty” permit near tribal land and complete a full environmental statement. He called for federal agencies involved to conduct meaningful tribal consultation.
