JOIN US: RL Political Education Committee - Monday, September 19th

11 AM at the Red Lake Government Center

Election time is getting closer. Join us for our next PEC meeting on Monday (tomorrow) September 19 at 11:00 at Government Center. Pass the word and bring a friend. A high Red Lake voter turn out could make the difference in County Board and State Representative Elections this year. Help us make that happen. Celebrating 20 years, 1996-2016.

RL PEC Mission Statement: The Red Lake Political Education Committee (RLPEC) was formed in 1996 to educate and register Red Lake voters, and then to Get Out the Vote. We take pride in being the oldest, most active, and effective Political Education Committee in Minnesota's Indian Country.

The purpose of this corporation (RLPEC) is:

• To support and conduct nonpartisan research, education, and informational activities to increase public awareness about their right to vote and participate in elections.

• To increase voter participation in tribal, state, and federal elections within the membership of the Red Lake band of Chippewa Indians and;

• To increase voters knowledge of political and social issues.

The Red Lake Political Education Committee (RLPEC) hopes to build political power within the Red Lake community by registering and educating potential Red Lake voters. RLPEC would like to remind members that any citizen can register to vote at the polls on election day with a tribal ID or any other form that gives a persons address, for example a utility bill. “So don’t forget to vote”, said co-chair Michelle Paquin Johnson. She also said that RLPEC will be conducting a Get Out the Vote effort at Red Lake on election day and the weekend before.
