Jimmie Lee Oxford, Sr., age 61, of Cass Lake, began his spiritual journey on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was born on November 11, 1954 in East Los Angeles, California the son of Henry Clay and Betty Sue (Threet) Oxford.

Jimmie attended high school in Hartshorne Oklahoma and graduated in 1972. While he was in school he enjoyed working with horses. Following school he moved to California where he worked numerous jobs. Jimmie met Yolanda in 1982 and together they moved to Cass Lake in 1984. They've resided there since. Jimmie worked construction for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. He was a very intelligent man who used his knowledge to work with and teach people. Jimmie was dependable and you could count on his help if he was around. The other thing you could count on with Jimmie, was telling it like it was. He was very generous with his time and knowledge. Jimmie was loved by all his family and friends and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family that Jimmie joins again are his parents; Henry and Betty, brother; Roy, nephew; Andrew, niece; Crystal, brothers in-law; Francis "Auggie" III, Anthony "Tony", and Donavin, In-Laws; Donna and Francis Boy, Jr.

Those leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife; Yolanda Oxford of Cass Lake; sons; Bobby Kuykendall, Jimmie Lee (Liz) Oxford, Jr. and Donavin Oxford all of Cass Lake, daughters; Jennifer and Janell Oxford both of California, Shenowa (D.J.) and Kimberly (Jasper) Oxford both of Cass Lake, brother; Kenneth Oxford of OK, sister; Barbara Nagy (John) of Oklahoma, nephews; Ian and Anderson Oxford both of Washington, Aaron Abbott of California, nieces; Valerie Stanley and Luvenia Foskect (Steve) both of Oklahoma, great niece; Ashleigh Nagy, many grandchildren, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A wake for Jimmie will begin at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 18th and continue until his 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, September 20th all being held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Pastor Mark R. Olson and Father George Ross will officiate. Pallbearers helping to lay Jimmie to rest will be Bobby Kuykendall, Kenny Oxford, Donavin Oxford, Jimmie Oxford, John Nagy and Donavin Smith. His honorary pallbearers are all of Jimmie's co-workers and his friends. Interment will be in Morgan Cemetery at Oak Point, MN following his Tuesday service.
