DEER HUNTING SEASON IS HERE

In accordance to Resolution no. 165-2001, Deer hunting season officially opens for RED LAKE BAND MEMBERS September 15 through December 31 of each calendar year.

Please note, only enrolled tribal members are allowed to hunt on tribal lands. Deer and small game permits are seasonally available at the Northwest Angle for non-members and the season runs concurrent with Minnesota's Zone-1 deer season. Tribal officials may issue special "non-member relative" permits for hunting on the Diminished Reservation.

In addition, Resolution No. 168-2000 is still in effect regarding the taking of moose. Therefore it is Illegal to shoot a moose, so please positively identify the species of game you are shooting. The taking of illegal big game could possibly result in a $3,000.00 fine and up to 1 year in jail with the confiscation and forfeiture of equipment.

As a reminder, wanton waste has been an issue in the past during warm days and it is extremely important to process the animal carcass immediately.

Tribal members are encouraged to report any hunting violations they may observe while hunting to Red Lake Law Enforcement at (218) 679-3313. Violators of tribal game codes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Have a safe Hunting season!
