Balloon Fiesta pilots prohibited from landing on reservation

ALBUQUERQUE —Albuquerque's annual Balloon Fiesta is less than a month away, and pilots are now finding out that they'll have less ground to work with when it comes to landing during the event.

On Saturday, Balloon Fiesta officials told Action 7 News that the Sandia Pueblo is not allowing pilots to land within its reservation boundaries this year.

In the past, officials with the pueblo have allowed pilots to land on the reservation due to the fact that pilots have to land wherever the wind takes them, and because the reservation is right next to Balloon Fiesta Park.
