Corey Medina and Sonny Johnson with The Storytellers At Rail River Folk School Sept. 16th For #NODAPL Benefit

On Friday September 16, 2016, local artists, Corey Medina and Sonny Johnson will be joining musical forces -- once again -- to benefit the Standing Rock camps in North Dakota. The two will be putting on a benefit concert at the Rail River Folk School with Dwa Weston and Matthew Eigsvoog of Phoenix Rises opening up the show with their acoustic project, "The Storytellers". Medina and Phoenix Rises are both Native American Music Awards (NAMA) nominees for "Best Rock Production" (NAMA winners will be announced September 17 at the annual NAMA ceremony in New York.) Medina and Johnson have been a blues rock duo for the past 2 years, both have begun pursuing their own music and writing this year. Sonny Johnson, a Red Lake Tribe member, has been working on his 2nd album that he will be releasing soon. Medina and Johnson, who haven't done a show together in about a year, are hoping to use their music to give back and support their fellow tribal members at the Standing Rock camps in Canon Ball, ND. On Saturday the 17th, Medina and his band (Eric Sundeen and William McKenzie) will be taking their music and the donations back to the camp where they will play a free concert for The Protectors..

Donations needed at the camp are money, food, and camping gear, such as tents and blankets. Any donations can be brought to Rail River Folk School on September 16th
