Beltrami County Farm Bureau to Host County Commissioner Candidates Forum

(Bemidji, Minnesota, August 29th) The Beltrami County Farm Bureau will host a County Commissioner Candidates Forum on Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 to provide area residents an opportunity to learn more about the candidate’s positions on issues of importance to Beltrami County.

The event will be held at the 4H Building of the Beltrami County Fairgrounds and will feature County Commissioner Candidates of Districts 2, 4, and 5. Todd Haugen of KB101-- Paul Bunyan Broadcasting will serve as forum moderator.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social and the forum will start at 7:00 p.m. The forum is sponsored by the Beltrami County Farm Bureau and is open to the public.

Beltrami County Farm Bureau President, Stan Kimmes reminds voters in Beltrami County it is important to be informed as they go to the polls this fall.

“Voters in Beltrami County need to understand how each candidate stands on issues impacting our County. This forum is structured in a way that each candidate will be offered an opportunity to share their position statements and respond to prepared questions and those submitted from the audience,” said Kimmes.

The Beltrami County Farm Bureau, is a nonpartisan, general farm organization, representing more than 250 member families. Statewide, the Minnesota Farm Bureau has close to 30,000 members.

“I urge you to attend the Beltrami County Commissioner Candidates Forum to meet our commissioner candidates and learn of the issues facing our county. This election is important to our community and we want informed voters to head to the polls to support the candidate of their choice on November 8th, 2016. This election needs commissioners that can work toward solutions,” said Kimmes.

Farm Bureau is active at the county, state, and national level, serving as an advocate for agriculture and rural America. As the nation’s largest general farm organization, issues of importance are surfaced and discussed at the local level. These issues then move through a policy development process that provides grassroots member engagement. This year, this process will begin at the Beltrami County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting, to be held on September 27th, 2016.
