North Dakota National Guard Deployed: Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Calls for Peace in Advance of DAPL Court Decision
CANNON BALL, NORTH DAKOTA – Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Chairman Archambault II spoke with North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple on Thursday morning and was notified that the governor has been deployed the national guard to ensure safety of all citizens.
The National Guard has been called in to assist state and county police in notifying drivers on Highway 1806 traveling south that there may be pedestrians on the road and cars may be parked on the side of the road. This is intended to keep all drivers and pedestrians safe.
The National Guard will not enter the camp.
This action comes one day prior to the anticipated ruling from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia tomorrow, September 9, on whether construction can continue on the Dakota Access Pipeline.
