Nez Perce Tribe To Swear in New Chief of Police

Lapwai, Idaho –The Nez Perce Tribe will be swearing in Harold Scott as the new Chief of the Nez Perce Tribal Police on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Chief Scott will be available for questions at 4pm in the Richard A. Halfmoon Chambers of the Nez Perce Tribe in Lapwai, Idaho. Chief Scott, a Nez Perce Tribal citizen, comes to the position having served his entire career in law enforcement. In 1983, Chief Scott began working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He also served as Chief of the Coeur D’Alene Tribal Police from 1997-2003. In 2003, he assumed the position of the Head of Security for the Clearwater River Casino and Lodge where he served for 13 years before accepting the position as Chief of the Nez Perce Tribal Police.

“The Tribe is pleased to have Mr. Scott assume command of the Nez Perce Tribal Police Department,” stated Mary Jane Miles, Chairman of the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee. “Mr. Scott has had a distinguished career in law enforcement and the Tribe believes he will provide excellent leadership and vision to our force,” concluded Miles.
