A former tribal police officer for the Hopi Indian Reservation has been sentenced to a federal prison term after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of a minor.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says a District Court judge on Monday sentenced 36-year-old Nolan Sulu of Polacca to 55 months in prison in addition to 23 months that Sulu has already served in a related conviction in tribal court.
The office said the abuse involved a 12-year-old child and occurred on three separate occasions in 2014.
