SPOKANE, Wash. --- The Spokane City Council voted 6-1 to pass a resolution to change the name of "Columbus Day" to "Indigenous Peoples' Day" on Monday.
“We have come to understand a myth,” Nez Perce tribal member JoAnna Kauffman said speaking at the meeting.
Center for Justice’s Rick Eichstaedt said no one at the City Council meeting was related to Christopher Columbus but many of them are tribal members.
