MnDOT hosts open house on Aug. 29 for two upcoming projects in Bemidji

Corridor improvement study on Highway 2 west of Bemidji; 2017 resurfacing project on Highway 197

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Anyone interested in learning more about two upcoming projects in Bemidji is invited to attend an open house on Monday, Aug. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bemidji MnDOT building, 3920 Highway 2 West.

The projects being presented are:

• Corridor improvement study on Highway 2 from Bemidji to Wilton

• 2017 resurfacing project on Highway 197/Bemidji Ave. from Third St. NW to Seventh Street SW

Alliant Engineering conducted a Corridor Traffic Evaluation to analyze safety improvements and access management strategies on Highway 2 from Wilton to Highway 71 in Bemidji. Participants will have the opportunity to view the improvement priorities and recommended strategies. The final safety enhancements selected for construction will be based upon the results of the study along with input provided by the public.

Community members will also be able to learn more about next summer’s resurfacing project on Highway 197/Bemidji Avenue between Third Street NW and Seventh Street SW. The project will impact motorists and businesses with lane closures and intermittent access restrictions.
