Hy-Vee, Minnesota Vikings Team Up to Host Local School Supply Tailgates

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Aug. 23, 2016) — Today, join Hy-Vee, Inc. and the Minnesota Vikings to celebrate the return of school and football! From 4 – 7 p.m., the public is invited to stop by their local Twin Cities Hy-Vee store for a chance to meet a Minnesota Vikings football player, get a photo taken with the Vikings Cheerleaders, toss a football with Viktor and give back to their communities.

Attendees will receive a free hot dog, bag of chips and soda (while supplies last) with the donation of new and unused school supplies. Donation packs will also be available for purchase at a minimal cost at each Hy-Vee store, beginning at the event and through Wednesday, Aug. 24. All school supplies will be donated to local elementary schools in each area [see below list]. No purchase is necessary to register for fun prizes, such as $50 Hy-Vee gift cards and autographed Minnesota Vikings jerseys.

Vikings players who will greet fans at Hy-Vee stores include: Alex Boone – guard (Oakdale); Danielle Hunter – defensive end (New Hope); Charles Johnson – wide receiver (Lakeville); and Captain Munnerlyn – cornerback (Brooklyn Park). The players and their assigned store locations are subject to change. One Vikings player will sign autographs at each Hy-Vee location from 6 – 7 p.m. In addition, Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders, MV Skol Line performances, games and other activities will be featured in the parking lot of each Hy-Vee store during the entire event.

Suggested school supplies include: Box of crayons, box of tissues, composition notebook, #2 pencils, scissors, colored pencils, dry erase markers, wide-ruled spiral notebooks, two-pocket folders, washable Elmer’s glue sticks, pink erasers, plastic pencil cases, markers, hand sanitizer, yellow highlighters and backpacks (no wheels).
