Tribal dropouts getting second chance at diploma

SHELTON, Wash. -- “School was for fools.”

That was the mentality when Ashley Longshore dropped out of high school.

“Being a teenage mom didn’t help,” said fellow Skokomish tribal member Sparrow Peterson who quit before her junior year in 2007.

Her fiancée, Kiyote Sparr blamed peer pressure.
