A prescription of hope: Agencies come together for opioid addiction panel

BEMIDJI -- Lisa Johnson, the director of women’s and children’s services at Sanford Bemidji, knows many pregnant women who use drugs avoid prenatal care out of fear.

Sometime it’s the fear of judgment that keeps these women away from desperately needed services. Other times they’re afraid their children will be taken from them.

But Johnson, along with the 200 people who attended a forum for community action Tuesday, are working to transform that fear into hope for recovery.
