A 28-year-old Pine Ridge woman faces life in prison if convicted of charges she badly abused and killed her toddler son in late July.
At the time of his death, the 2-year-old child had bruises and bite marks on his body and a torn scrotum, according to court documents.
Katrina P. Shangreaux was arrested July 29, a day after her son was declared dead at Pine Ridge Hospital. She has been charged in Rapid City federal court with first-degree murder, which carries a lifetime prison sentence upon conviction, said the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
