Heavy storm damage in Crow Wing County

BRAINERD, Minn. -- Another overnight thunderstorm hit north-central Minnesota early Thursday, knocking out power and even knocking over a Babe the Blue Ox.

That is, “a” Babe the Blue Ox was knocked over; not “the” Babe the Blue Ox.

The strong winds toppled the 6,000-pound statue of Babe at Paul Bunyan Land in Brainerd. It was lifted back on its feet later Thursday. The Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox statues in Bemidji are still standing strong at the Lake Bemidji waterfront, although some areas of Bemidji did lose power following the storm.
