Ashley Jean Needham, "Mah-Konce", Little Bear, age 26, of Red Lake, began her spiritual journey on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Red Lake. She was born on February 12, 1990 the daughter of Donald Needham, Jr. and LeeAnn (Barrett) Sumner.

She lived in the Fargo/Moorhead area until moving back to Red Lake in 2008 where she raised her four children; Racquel, Lowery, Jr., Grace, Mikala and also helped with her special niece Shariah.

She worked at both the Thief River and Red Lake Casinos.

Ashley enjoyed spending time with her children and her niece. She also enjoyed spending time with her brother and family but most of all her special friend, Rob whom she was to marry this year. Seeing her Mom and Dad always put a smile on her face. She enjoyed going to the casinos, riding around with her friends and family, visiting and helping others in need. She was always a happy young woman. There was never a day went by without a big smile from her.

Family welcoming her to the spirit world are her grandparents; Donald Needham, Sr., Margaret "Muggs" Needham and Gene Barrett, Sr., uncle; Delvin Benais, Sr., special cousin; Cody Piche and numerous aunties and uncles.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her mother; LeeAnn Sumner of Crookston, father; Donald (Sheila) Needham, Jr. of Red Lake, children; Racquel and Lowery "Tbone" Stillday, Jr., and Grace and Mikala Needham all of Red Lake, her fiancé; Robert Demarr, Jr., brother; Michael Needham of Red Lake, grandparents; Grace and Wayne Nass, special niece; Shariah Kingbird-Needham, numerous other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Ashley will begin at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 26th and continue until her traditional service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28th all being held at the Old Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake. Allen Hardy will be her Spiritual Leader. Pallbearers for Ashley will be Kevin Anderson, Andrew Barrett, Ralph White, Greg Strong, Gene Barrett, Jr. and Darren Strong. Alternate pallbearers are Rick Porter and Delvis Benais, Jr. Her honorary pallbearers are Judy Erickson, Deshanna Lussier, Kristen Benais, Kaeley Kaye, Crystal Barrett, Dionne Strong, Norma Piche, Celeste Strong, Lisa Brun, Cartera Barrett, Kayla Anderson, Kimberlee Anderson and Cheryl "Choppy" Strong. Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at Red Lake followiher Thursday service.
