Gwen Graham introduces school safety bill

A gun has been fired on campus nearly once a week since Sandy Hook.

Now, the expectancy of the next school shooting feels commonplace, prompting Congresswoman Gwen Graham to introduce new legislation that will help teachers respond quickly to threats with the use of technology.

The “Securing Our Schools Act” allows the Justice Department to award districts extra dollars to place tech-forward alert systems in classrooms. After a year, the department will evaluate which systems were the most effective.
