2 men arrested after report of Grand Forks home invasion

An alleged home invasion and assault just north of the UND campus early Thursday led to the arrest of two Grand Forks men, both of whom were found hiding in a dumpster.

Grand Forks police officers were called at 3:42 a.m. Thursday to the 1000 block of North 39th Street for a report of a home invasion and assault, according to a news release. “Multiple suspects” entered the residence and assaulted a female resident, as well as a male resident who came to her assistance.

Police Lt. Bill Macki said there were “as many as five, possibly” involved in the incident, adding it was a “pretty chaotic situation for the victims.” He said it’s too early to say whether more charges are coming.
