County, School District plan public hearing on new school project

BEMIDJI—An environmental assessment worksheet to move forward with a proposed agreement between the Bemidji School District and Beltrami County in regard to a new elementary school has been submitted.

During the School Board meeting Monday, Bemidji Schools Superintendent James Hess informed the board that the comprehensive worksheet, prepared with multiple contractors involved in the district's new grades 4-5 facility, has been completed and sent to the county's Environmental Services Department.

The worksheet submission comes after a meeting between the two entities earlier this summer where the district made a proposal to Beltrami County regarding the Gene Dillon Elementary School the district wants to build at the intersection of Division Street and Becida Road.
