House 2A candidate Loud responds to battery claims from 1980s divorce

BEMIDJI—A divorce ruling more than 30 years ago involving Minnesota House District 2A DFL candidate Jerald "Jerry" Loud stating that he "battered" his ex-wife surfaced Tuesday.

The Star Tribune reported that during a divorce trial in 1984, Judge Terrance Holter granted Loud's ex-wife a restraining order to prevent future battery against the woman.

Loud's ex-wife, Annette C. Bellino, told the Star Tribune that Loud's abuse sent her to the emergency room several times. She said Loud smashed her through Sheetrock walls and suffocated her until she passed out.
