Kidnapping suspect appears in court

BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man accused of kidnapping a 5-year-old girl will not appear in court on that charge again until September.

initial appearance, during which an omnibus hearing was scheduled for Sept. 16. Kinn’s attorney, Symon Schindler-Syme, requested the late date because a report on the fire at a north Bemidji home from which the 5-year-old disappeared is not due for at least eight weeks.

The 5-year-old Bemidji girl was reported missing June 22 after a fire destroyed the mobile home of a family friend with whom she was staying. The girl was found alive the next day on land belonging to Kinn’s family near Bigfork, Minn. Kinn was arrested and has been held in Beltrami County Jail since June 23.
