Community discussion on drug addiction set for Saturday

BEMIDJI—Voices for Racial Justice—a Minnesota-based advocacy organization—has partnered with members of Bemidji's Native American community to host a panel discussion on drug addiction in Bemidji.

Nicole Buckanaga, a Bemidji representative with Voices for Racial Justice, helped organize Healthcare Not Handcuffs, which is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Rail River Folk School. Buckanaga decided to organize the event to help address the problem of drug addiction in the area.

"This is in direct response to the drug epidemic in the city," Buckanaga said.
