Eugene "Jip" Alan Hanson, age 71, of Red Lake, Minnesota passed away on June 30th, 2016. He was born in Red Lake, Minnesota on May 17th, 1945 to Kenneth and Amelia (Chase) Hanson, Sr.

Jip was a very talented artist, whose works can be found all over the world. He had a great sense of humor and always had a good story to tell. Jip liked to fish and hunt, wood burning, going to the casino, watching game shows and collecting coins. He was an avid follower of astronomy and astrology and he loved his alone time in nature but most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Jip has been reunited with his lifelong loving companion Armella Jean Stately, parents; Kenneth and Amelia Hanson, daughter; Paula Hanson, brothers; Robert Hanson and Joseph Hurd, sisters; Rebecca "Becky" Allen and Doreen "Cookie" Hanson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters; Dee Ann Hanson of Montana, Sheila (Christopher) Erickson of Red Lake, Lea Ann (Travis) Lajuenesse of Red Lake, Wyona (Jose') Mountain of Minneapolis and Kimberly (Jeremy) Stately of Red Lake, special daughters; Stephanie (Gabriel) Stately-Beaulieu, Serrena (Rodney) Stately and Crystal (Gil) Hanson, brothers; Gary Hanson of Bena and Kenneth Hanson of Red Lake, sister; Gloria Hanson of Minneapolis, grandchildren; Tim, Katieri, Chelsea, Shaila, Christopher Jr., Marquel, Jeremy Jr., Ashleigh, Steph, Jasmine, Jose Jr. and Marissa, great grandchildren; Gabriel Jr., Armella Jean and Riley, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Jip's wake will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5th at the Red Lake Community Center and continue until his 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, July 7th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers for Jip will be Mike Hanson, David Allen, Jr., Ameliano Allen, Christopher Erickson, Sr., Gabriel Beaulieu, Sr. and Jeremy Spears, Sr. His honorary pallbearers are Mike O'Neil, Darwin Lussier, Steve Beaulieu, Darrell Pierre, Anthony Infante and Olga Hanson. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake following his Thursday service.
